What We Do
We manufacture U.S.–made battery separator film (BSF) — the critical membrane every American-built EV and energy-storage battery depends on.

What is BSF?
Battery Separator Film is an ultra-thin, nano-porous layer that sits between the anode and cathode inside a lithium-ion battery. It keeps them safely apart while letting ions move, enabling the battery to charge, discharge, and operate safely.

Why It Matters?
BSF is one of the most important safety components in a battery. If the separator fails, the cell fails. By producing BSF domestically, we shorten lead times, improve quality control, and ensure our energy systems aren’t vulnerable to foreign supply disruptions.

Demand for separator film is surging as EV adoption accelerates. Global BSF demand is projected to triple by 2035, requiring more than 66 billion m² of new separator film capacity, with North America expected to grow rapidly as new gigafactories come online (Porsche Consulting, 2024).

Domestic Battery Separator Production
The U.S. currently relies on overseas sources for over 90% of EV battery separators. Kairos eliminates this dependency by establishing domestic manufacturing capacity, reducing exposure to global disruptions like the Suez Canal blockage and the Key Bridge collapse.
Scale-Ready 600M m² Annual Output
Kairos is commissioning a 250,000 sq. ft. plant in the United States with throughput of 600 million m² per year, enough to support production of hundreds of thousands of EV battery packs annually
